Second Annual Freshmen 14

Welcome!

We're glad that you're interested in participating in our second annual athletic event, "The Freshmen 14". As you may already know, our event is exclusive to freshmen residents of the 14 dorms of North Campus and benefits St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Events include 3-on-3 Soccer, 3-on-3 Basketball, Volleyball, Tug-of-War, and Ultimate Frisbee.

At this point, we'd like to take the time to elaborate about how this event will be run.

First, the competitions will be held Saturday, September 12th, from 12 PM - 4 PM on Rawlings Green area of North Campus. All participants will be expected to donate $5 in order to participate, and will receive a t-shirt with their dorm name on the back so that they can flaunt their dorm pride.

Participants from a common suite, floor, or dormitory will form squads of 6. Each squad will compete in as many events as they wish. Volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee, and Tug-of-War teams will feature all six members. Soccer and basketball teams will be divided into groups of 3. Each squad can earn points by finishing in the top spots in their events; points earned by each squad will count towards the points earned for their dorms as well.

Squads with most points in each event will win gift cards worth hundreds of dollars. The dorm with the most points at the end of the day will be awarded the Freshmen 14 trophy. So, we highly encourage participants to compete in as many events as possible!

Last year, Clara Dickson Hall took home the trophy as well as numerous Wii systems and DVD players for their lounges! This year, who will reap in hundreds of dollars worth of gift cards?

Registration will begin August 31st – September 12th. Kappa Sigma and Pi Beta Phi will have members at RPU and Appel from 5PM – 7PM throughout the coming week. Look out for us!
